TSAXPINA SMIRNIOPOULA
The song Tsaxpina Smirniopoula is an ode to the city of Smyrna, the scene of various cultural influences, including Greek, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman.
Today, Izmir remains one of Turkey’s most important cities, with a rich history and diverse cultural heritage that bears witness to its glorious past.

THE BAND
The Band Assafir is made up of six artists. Assafir means bird in Arabic, and the group’s musicality makes sure to reflect the freedom represented by birdsong.
The band takes full advantage of this freedom in its artistic expression, blending modernity with Greek heritage. Assafir is not afraid to mix strong instruments to create singular melodies.
The oud and qanun on one side, clarinet and quarter-tone accordion on the other. And a melodious voice to tell the stories, seeking freedom. The group was born in 2019. After two years of existence and performances, the group recorded its first album, entitled « Digression ».
In 2021, the album is released and marks a new era for the band. The work conveys the raw energy that characterizes the band on stage.
In 2023 they perform at ‘la fête de la musique’ in the Paris museum of Jewish Art and Histoty au musée .
